Breaking bad habitsHypnotherapy works because it works in the same way that the brain naturally makes and breaks habits.Humans are naturally creatures of habit. Without habitual responses we would have to work out afresh what do each time we were confronted with a situation. Our good habits serve us well, but ‘bad’ habits have unwanted consequences.
|
Frequently the unwanted, problem behaviour was once a ‘solution’ to a different problem; for example a person who is shy, and to overcome this believes they are more confident if they drink alcohol. They find themselves drinking more and more frequently. The drinking was used to solve a problem, but then becomes a problem itself. Hypnotherapy works very well with breaking any unwanted habits, including smoking, alcohol dependency, nail biting, and drug addiction. It is common to find
that people with unwanted habits have unmet basic
needs, and a vital part of overcoming the habit is ensuring that the
basic needs are adequately met. |
