My approach to therapy

In my work:

• I adopt a solution focused approach,
• using hypnotherapy,
• Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), and
• cognitive behavioural therapy.
• I work from a human givens perspective.

I am a member of the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council and bound by their Code of Ethics.

Solution Focused Therapy
As its name suggests solution focused therapy concentrates upon what you want, your desired outcome.

It is future focused and uses the resources that each person has to create lasting solutions, rather than solve problems.

It can be contrasted with other forms of therapy which encourage delving into the past to analyse and understand why problems exist.

The problem solving approach, besides being less effective, often involves unnecessary trawling through painful past episodes.

If you fall and break your leg you wouldn't expect the doctor to spend weeks finding out why your leg had broken, and how the bones had shattered, you would you just want the doctor to fix the leg so that you could get back to full health as quickly as possible.
