Self help relaxation techniques. Take a break, naturally!

The need for a break is a natural part of our make up. Roughly every 90 minutes there are changes in our mind and body to let us know that it’s time for a rest, called ultradian rhythms.

During these times people often notice feeling slightly dreamy, a dip in concentration, and sometimes a heaviness in the legs, a general slowing down.


 

 

In modern society with the pressure to soldier on people tend to override it, and if feeling tired will have a coffee or a cigarette to wake them up. Continually overriding the body’s natural need for a rest has been shown to adversely affect the immune system, affects our clarity of thought and creates stress.

Taking a break twice a day has many benefits, and may add as much as ten years to your life; it improves immune function, improves concentration and enhances our mental wellbeing.
